Introduction

Welcome to Save Sleighton. Our mission is to spread awareness and information on Sleighton in order to help preserve. Please check out the whole site and read our pages. This is relatively new, so more will be updated and added!

The Sleighton School for those who don’t know, is a former juvenile school that’s off of Valley Road in both Edgmont and Middletown Townships. The former campus is around 300 acres in size, and includes 25 buildings, most from the early 1900s, but also some from the 1800s and throughout the 1900s. The school closed doors in 2001 due to claimed lack of funding, and has remained vacant since, left exposed to the elements and vandalism. The property is managed by Sleighton Inc., which is what it became known as when Elwyn Inc. stepped in in the 90s. Currently, Sleighton Inc. is working on rezoning the Edgmont side for future development, and Middletown is out so far. The Toll Brothers recently had a plan for 397 age restricted units on both sides that didn’t fall through. The property has been eligible for the National Register of Historic Places since 2002.
